About the artist:

Sergio Caggia was born in Paris to Italian parents. As a result, he grew up in Italy and France, absorbing the deep and distinctive artistic cultures of both countries. His international professional parkour made him a polyglot. He majored in the Science of Visual Arts and graduated from Parsons School of Design, Paris/New York in 1999. Most his career he worked as an Art Director in Paris, New York and Tel Aviv. He is now a full time artist.

Sergio's deep knowledge of composition, light, forms and colors makes his work original and prone to emotional connection. He derives the inspiration from observation of the micro world of nature and raw materials. He recreates its observations into an intense macro world that defines the style and character of his work. Each work starts by sketching out a general idea for composition and forms. Then colors, light and shades are created by instinct, spontaneity, visual memory and occasionally by using photography as reference for textures.

His Paintings are lacking figurative or literal references. The viewer is compelled to explore, discover and interpret to tell his or her own story according to his or her own frame of references. All paintings presented are painted with high quality acrylic on pure cotton canvas, 120 cm x 90 cm (Height 47.2” x Width 35.4”). Horizontal or vertical orientation varies and a few artworks are diptychs or triptychs.
His Digital Art generally starts with one or few photographs that he alters with his unique artistic sensibility to create mesmerizing abstract compositions. Artworks are over-sized and ideal for large wall display. Generally images are printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum which gives a sleek modern look. A large variety of surface media and sizes are available.
